Anthropic's IPO filing has blanks where its newest numbers should be
The prospectus shows $16.286 billion in first-half revenue and $417 billion in new lease commitments, but the latest quarter is missing.

What the filing leaves out
Anthropic's IPO prospectus has a blank where its latest quarterly revenue should be, and anyone weighing the stock will notice it. [1] The text says revenue grew from $0 at commercial launch in the first quarter of 2023 to an empty figure for the three months ended September 30, 2026. [1]
The missing details largely concern financials for the most recent quarter, which ended in late September, and lease agreements tied to compute investments. [1] Anthropic filed the document on a Monday. [1]
Anthropic plans to list its Class A common stock on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker ANT. [2] Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley are the leading bankers. [2]
Why the third quarter is absent
Accounting professor Michael Dambra says the numbers are absent for practical reasons. [1] September 30 was only a few weeks earlier, and closing the books takes time. [1]
Companies can be liable for misstatements in their registration statements, which gives them a strong incentive not to publish numbers before they are fully vetted. [1] Dambra also says SEC rules would require Anthropic to update the filing with third-quarter financials if it goes public later than about mid-November. [1]
Dambra notes that companies with redactions in their S-1s were more likely to underprice their shares at the IPO. [1]
The numbers that are there
Revenue for the six months to June 30, 2026 was $16.286 billion, compared with $1.163 billion in the first half of 2025. [2] Full-year 2025 revenue was $4.585 billion. [2]
Anthropic reported $1.0 billion of operating income in Q2 2026, an 8% operating margin, on quarterly revenue of $11.6 billion. [2] At June 30, 2026, it held $131.651 billion in cash, cash equivalents, and short-term investments. [2]
The first-half 2026 headline net loss was $80.748 billion. [2] Most of it came from a $72.388 billion charge for changes in the fair value of convertible notes, derivative liabilities, and SAFEs. [2]
The 2025 net loss was $41.965 billion. [2] Ross Hendricks of Porter & Company says about $34 billion of the 2025 loss was a noncash accounting charge, and that shareholder dilution could follow. [3]
The compute bill
Since December 31, 2025, Anthropic has started or amended compute and infrastructure leases with future minimum payment obligations worth about $417 billion in aggregate. [1] Since June 30, it has added another $245 billion to its future payment obligations, all related to infrastructure agreements. [1]
Anthropic also says it has amended certain existing commercial agreements, which it notes have not yet been finalized, for an additional $125 billion to $150 billion. [1] It says it treats its chips as a single, fungible pool from multiple strategic partners, including Amazon, Google, Nvidia, and AMD. [1]
Patrick Moorhead, CEO and chief analyst at Moor Insights & Strategy, says investors are owed more information, such as the probability and degree of impact of compute risks. [1]
Who holds the votes and how the company grew
Anthropic's last private round, the Series H, raised $65.2 billion in gross proceeds at $589.0095 per preferred share in Q2 2026. [2] A Founder LLC holding the single share of Class F stock will control 50.1% of total voting power on most shareholder matters. [2]
Anthropic has about 5,300 employees as of September 30, 2026, up from about 940 at the end of 2024. [2]
What it means for you
If you are considering buying shares, watch for the third-quarter financials, because SEC rules would require an updated filing if the listing comes later than about mid-November. [1] The current document leaves the latest quarter blank, and Dambra says companies with redactions in their S-1s were more likely to underprice their shares at the IPO. [1]
Check the risk factors, which run 80 pages of the prospectus. [3] Jake Williams points out that nearly a quarter of Anthropic's 2025 revenue came from two customers. [3]
Lale Akoner of eToro says the $8.1 billion operating loss is the more meaningful figure, and that Anthropic is a long way from proving it can turn rapid revenue growth into sustainable profits. [3] Ben Bajarin of Creative Strategies says the AI market will be more than $3 trillion yearly and that the filing shows how early enterprise adoption is. [1]
