IOS 27.2 gives Siri a memory and adds AI features across Apple's devices

Siri AI remembers past chats

On supported iPhone models, iOS 27.2 lets Siri AI recall past conversations the user has had with the chatbot ^[1]. Apple released new versions of its operating systems that bring additional Siri and AI functions to its hardware ^[1].

Recall means you can ask about something Siri AI told you before, such as restaurants it recommended last week ^[2].

What else Siri AI can do

Siri AI can now pull information from more sources, including photos sent in Messages, attendees on Calendar invites and voicemails ^[1]. Granular text selection lets users select and copy partial elements of Siri AI responses ^[1].

Siri AI also added language support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish ^[1].

The Excluded Apps setting lets an iPhone user prevent Siri, Search and suggestions from accessing a particular program ^[1]. It was previously named App Access ^[3].

Which devices get what

Siri AI features are available on all iPhone 16 models and later, as well as on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max ^[1]. Siri AI is not available in the EU or mainland China ^[2].

watchOS 27.2 gets the same Siri AI feature lineup as the iPhones ^[1]. macOS 27.2 includes Siri AI updates for past conversation recall and Suggestions in Messages ^[1]. Apple also pushed 27.2 updates for iPad, Apple TV, Vision Pro and HomePod products ^[1].

Updates for every iPhone

All iPhones can take advantage of the other updates in iOS 27.2, not only the Siri AI features ^[1]. Suggestions in Messages help users take action based on conversation context, such as adding a Calendar invite for a dinner ^[2]. Shared Albums in Photos gains the ability to edit captions and comments ^[1].

iOS 27.2 adds support for Google's SynthID watermarking tool to identify images created or modified with generative AI in Photos or Image Playground ^[1]. It also redesigns the Apple Music app icon, replacing the red background with a white one and a black music note ^[3].

A redesigned Apple Health app was pulled from later iOS 27.2 beta releases, and the old Health app ships with the public release ^[3].

The iPhone Duo

The first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, now supports the Apple Pencil and Edge Light, a feature that creates an on-screen ring light for video calls ^[1]. Pencil support is limited to the USB-C Apple Pencil, and the foldable does not support the Pro variant ^[3].
