Nine tools over the bed

The Bambu H3C teaser video shows nine colorful Bowden tools arching over the top of the printer. [1] That count would put it ahead of other tool changers, because the Prusa XL takes up to five toolheads and the Snapmaker U1 has four. [2]

VoxelMatters premiered the official video teaser for the H3C on October 23. [2] Bambu Lab promotes the H3C with taglines that point to a new tool-swapping mechanism at the core of the system. [2]

What the tools do

Nine separate filaments feed into the toolheads, so users could theoretically make prints in up to 10 colors. [3] An AI-enhanced image that showed 10 spools was confirmed to be wrong. [1]

A larger tool count lets a printer switch between materials, colors and nozzle configurations without the purge waste and slow color changes of single-nozzle multimaterial systems. [2]

Where the H3C sits in the H-line

The H3C is a member of Bambu Lab's H-line of flagship printers, which includes the H2S, H2D, and H2C. [1] The H2C has a 330 x 320 x 325mm build volume. [1] It came with six nozzles for seven-color printing. [3]

The H2C AMS Combo costs $2,200. [3] Pricing for the H3C has not been announced, but it is expected to cost more than the H2C. [3]

How Bambu Lab got here

Bambu Lab was founded in 2020 by a team of engineers from the consumer drone industry. [2] Its first product was the X1 series, launched through a record-breaking Kickstarter campaign in 2022. [2]

The H2 series moved Bambu Lab into larger-format, multi-function systems in 2025. [2] Dr. Tao, at Formnext, was very interested in creating multitasking machines that could do more than just 3D print. [1]

Not everyone was impressed with adding a laser to the H2D. [1] The Bambu Lab A2L has an optional blade cutting and embossing tool. [1]

How the reveal happened

The banner appeared on Bambu Lab's Australian store and was quickly removed, possibly after being published accidentally. [3]

What this means for you

If you follow the H-line, the H3C is the next flagship alongside the H2S, H2D, and H2C. [1] If you want many colors or materials in one print, the teaser shows nine tools and nine separate filaments feeding the toolheads. [1][3]

Check the price before you plan a purchase, because pricing has not been announced and the H3C is expected to cost more than the H2C. [3] The H2C AMS Combo, at $2,200, is the reference point. [3]

Treat the 10-spool image with caution, since it was confirmed to be wrong. [1]
